Another mom of the year (MOY) entry
I have been dreading this day for a while now.... the day before book club. Which means, I HAVE to clean my house thoroughly. None of this surface stuff that I've been doing for months and months. So, I spent over TWO hours just scrubbing gunk and milk off of the dining room chairs, table and stools. Yeah, TWO hours. So when Kent brought the kids home from the one hour trip to Costco I decided they would have a picnic on the deck. I didn't want them touching anything. It's ok that it's 24 degrees out, right? Get your shoes on, you're eating outside! They thought it was a great idea. However, they were somewhat naughty and had to come in faster than I anticipated. So, I had to resort to them eating on the kitchen floor. This I did feel bad about, because it is still not clean. I couldn't take pics. of this, because I didn't want to be reported to CPS. They were happy enough because it was different and the girls weren't locked up in the boosters, so they could roam the floor. I still have 4 more meals until book club gets here. What is a girl to do? Mickey D's anyone?

Hilarious as always! What book are you reading?
We just finsihed, "Forget About It." It was funny. I get to pick the book for this month. Any suggestions?
Thanks Christy...that makes me feel much better that you are also a self nominator for MOTY. I like how your kids get a picnic with snow as the backdrop. Makes me laugh so hard!
Oh and book selections...I'm not sure what kind of book club you belong to...but, my two favorite books right now are Kite Runner and by the same author, A Thousand Splendid Suns. GREAT reads, very graphic and somewhat violent. They are both about Afghani culture and have violence towards women, but very intense and suspensful reads...awesome books. If they fit the kind of readers you have in your group, I would highly recommend them.
Thanks Tami! I've love those ones too, we just finished Thousand Splendid Suns. Any other suggestions? :)
Just a Recommendation...
Your home has always been very clean when I visit and I never heard the children complain. Instead of subjecting your offspring to these tactics you may consider changing the club meeting place to another venue! May I recommend the local public library of even the Greenacres school where your mother-in-law teaches! That way the girls won't have to search for new hats to wear to their outdoor lunch.
Thanks Uncle Pete! I have put off hosting book club for over a year! Next time, I think I will not wait so long to REALLY clean, or I will host at Starbucks like I did last time! That way the kids won't have to suffer through my insanity.
